Devastating and wonderful film about falling out of love because one cannot accept marriage for what it is, banal yet profound. women in the 1950's had no power because they worked in the home and had babies. Many must have felt trapped by convention.

A riveting film. Uncomfortable to watch. It is about the 50's and the decline and fall of happiness in suburbia. The supporting cast is splendid. I did have one question throughout: Where are the children? Conveniently gone during all the fight scenes.

Modulated and in control until all of a sudden it's not, the camera goes handheld and the characters unleash all of their repressed frustration, then back to cool and precise. I admired this film more then loved it, but great acting makes it stand out
