The Monuments Men (2014)

Review Roundup:

Clooney's Monuments Men is a bit "dull" and "lifeless." It's "all star" cast is full of characters you "don't ever get to know" and the "episodic" plot heads toward an "obvious destination."

A disconnected series of non-events fails to capture much interest from the audience. Would not even make a good documentary on the History Channel. Maybe George Clooney likes it, but I did not.

I have been looking forward to this movie and must say I was terribly disappointed! The injection of two lame comedy scenes of the germans hiding in the bushes was stupid and out of place. In real time both of these men would be toast!!

In attempting to be an old-fashioned war/heist picture, it at times relies too much on formula and cliché. But it makes the point that evil empires destroy weaker cultures not through killing, but by destroying their art and history.

Agonizing to see such fine actors do such a lousy movie. You've got a very serious, dramatic event, and the film is larded with asinine dollops of stale humor every chance it gets. The scenes are merely stitched together- little coherence.
