Synopsis: Emmy Award-winning director Tom Hooper (John Adams) teams with screenwriter David Seidler (Tucker: A Man and His Dreams) to tell the story of King George VI. When his older brother abdicates the throne, nervous-mannered successor George "Bertie" VI (Colin Firth) reluctantly dons the crown. Though his stutter soon raises concerns about his leadership skills, King George VI eventually comes into his own with the help of unconventional speech therapist Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush). Before long the king and Lionel have forged an unlikely bond, a bond that proves to have real strength when the United Kingdom is forced to flex its international might.

    Colin Firth deserves this Golden Globe for his role as King George VI! Beginning to end, Firth carries the audience through the King's struggle and the emotion that he shows is unparallel. An incredible film!

    Superb acting at the center by Firth and Rush, but a little too by the numbers for me. Not a surprising moment in the film but the actors play off of each other wonderfully.

    It's not a bad movie because it has great acting from Firth and Rush, but the story is so typical that I don't feel like it deserved Best Picture in my honest opinion. You see this story hundreds of times, and they are usually forgotten.

    This is a film that hits the ground running and never puts a foot wrong. Working with a wonderful script by David Seidler, this is a film that is incredibly witty and fun as well as providing a solid inspirational message.
