It is largely an entertaining piece of eye candy (despite over-length) that benefits by having a director who brings energy, humor, and emotion to what could have been a soulless exercise, much like "Alice in Wonderland" (2010).

OZ was a highly entertaining film. It lifts the viewer out of the ordinary and into the extra-ordinary with two hours of exciting film screen magic and dazzling color. It foreshadows the classic '39 film nicely.
